PUBLIC SAFETY MEMORIAL DEDICATION CEREMONY
Billerica Public Safety officers and family members of those memorialized will dedicate the granite monument at a short ceremony on September 7th at 11:00 AM. The Memorial site is located in front of Billerica Town Hall.
The Memorial is privately funded and honors Billerica First Responders killed in the line of duty. The center monument and three surrounding benches are cut from Barre, Vermont granite with a steel finish. The central monument, with carved black lettering, is approximately 71⁄2 feet high, 2 feet wide and 2 feet deep. The walkways are made of bluestone. A separate stone contains a narrative poem written by retired Billerica Police Lieutenant Len Buckland.
In the works for over 2 1⁄2 years, this tribute to Billerica’s fallen public safety officers is approximately 40 feet back from the sidewalk in direct line with the front door of Town Hall.
The public is invited to the unveiling and dedication ceremony. Light refreshments will be served in Town Hall following the ceremony.Donors will be recognized on a plaque to be installed in Town Hall at a later date.
